Thats right! Finally electric vehicle owners can start charging their veihcles at gas stations! GM has partnered with EVgo to install the first 2,000 high speed ev chargers at Flying J stops across the united states.

Car charging in a Pilot travel center

This will make it easier for travelers to stop and charge there electric vehicles, plus reduce overall fears of range anxiety. Pilot Travel Centers has opened 17 new electric vehicle charging stations acrosss 13 states, with this collaboration. This is huge for electric vehicle road trippers!

These new charging stations include:
  • Multiple fast-charging stalls, thus no lines for chargers
  • Chargers have the capability of delivering up to 350 kW!
  • Pull- through charging stalls with canopies make it alot easier to charge and do accomodate electric vehicles that are towing
  • Well-lit charging areas that are monitored by staff on site
  • Free wifi if you want to scroll on your phone while you are waiting for your vehicle to charge
  • Plug and charge compatability, for users that do have accounts, connect the charger to your vehicle and it initates charging immediately, making the experience seamless for drivers.
This does connect to Pilot's myRewards program, which offers drivers deals on food and merch! This app also does connect to the EVgo app, PlugShare and other apps for EV owners. GM electric vehicles will have an additional benefits of this network; such as the ability to reserve a charger and discounts on electric vehicle charging.

By the end of this year they are projecting that there will be 200 charging stations with the long term goal with 500 fast charging statios at Pilot and Flying J locations with 2,000 charging stalls along freeways connecting urban and rural communities. These three companies are really trying to increase the availability of electric vehicle charging for those who travel longer distances as well as rural communites, who would otherwise not have access to fast charging stations.
