You may wonder what is next for electric vehicle chargers, what ideas and concepts a company is looking to bring to life. We are going to share with you what is next for electric vehicle charging and how it will make your life easier.

There is news going around that Tesla is in the process of buying a German based company called Wiferion. Wiferion produced wireless charging pads for electric vehicles. If the deal goes through, this would give electric vehicle owners in America another option for electric vehicle charging.
Wireless charging is already available in Asia and Europe! How the wireless charging pad charges a vehicle is; there is a magnetic oil in the charging pad and one underneath an electric vehicle, once the coils align the charging begins. According to WiTricity, who is the leading provider of wireless electric vehicle charging; they state their wireless chargers are 90-93% more efficient compared to standard ev charging, which is 80-95% efficient. It charges at the same speed as a level 2 charger.
The BMW 530e hybrid sedan is the only EV sold in America that will accept wireless charging. As more manufacturers produce vehicles are compatible with wireless charging, the more likely you will start to see wireless charging stations.
Another type of charging that is being discussed is static charging; this would take place when you car is parked at a charging station over top of the charger. This would be similar to stopping to plug in your car. Then there is also dynamic charging, these are wireless charge pads that would be built into roadways and highways. As electric vehicle owners drive over them, their vehicle would charge. These would work when driving at 65 mph, this is great for those who do a lot of highway driving and do not want to stop to charge their vehicle. This also eliminates the risk of electric vehicle owners running out of power. Currently Plugless Power offers a wireless charging station for $3,500; this doesn't include the cost of installation.
