Want to know what functions Tesla Autopilot has? Many consumers get Tesla's Self-Driving and Autopilot confused with one another, we will explain what actually Tesla Autopilot is.

Tesla's advanced driver assistance system can assist the driver with tasks of braking, steering and acceleration. There are two features to the autopilot. One is called autosteer, and the other is traffic aware cruise control.
The cruise control is also known as adaptive cruise control; it allows the vehicle to keep a safe distance from the vehicle in front of it, while accelerating and braking without the driver having to do it themselves. This happens while the driver steers and pays attention to the road, this feature can also be overridden by the driver at any time if needed.
Auto Steering which is also known as lane keeping assistance, this is when the vehicle is able to keep it's lateral position between the clearly market lane on the road. This still requires the driver to steer, but if they get to close to one side of the road it will send them back to the middle.
What Can't Tesla Autopilot Do?
Autopilot cannot drive the vehicle by itself. The standard version of Tesla's autopilot does not automatically change lanes like it would if it had the self-driving feature. It also is not capable recognizing street lights, street sign, self park and navigation streets.
What Does It Cost?
Autopilot is standard on all new Tesla's, so there is no additional fee if that is all you want. If you want enhanced autopilot, there is one time fee of $6,000; and full self driving can be added for $15,000. If your Tesla does not have the required software upgrade, then you are able to subscribe to the full self driving feature for $199 a month.
Is It Safe?
Autopilot and self driving are aids to the driver. These shouldn't be fully relied on. They can be dangerous if misused. If they are used as intended, they do not appear to be unsafe based on response from NHTSA.
