There are a handful of auto makers have joined an alliance and have invested into a shared multibillion charging network. The new network will become Tesla's new rival: GM, BMW, Hyundai, Honda, Mercedes, Kia and Stelliantis are part of this alliance.

This network will bring high powered charging stations with an abundance of plugs to urban areas and highly travel roads; they expect this to be done by 2030. This is in hopes of not only increasing the number of electric vehicle chargers, which will then increase electric vehicle sales; due to consumers seeing that these chargers are more accessible.
The new network is expected to have about 10 to plugs per station. It is also predicted to have 1,500 to 3,000 charging stations. These stations are intended to be compatible with all electric vehicles and unlike Tesla supercharger stations.
The automakers also noted that they want to use renewable energy when possible, to power to charging stations. This also means placing them in more convenient locations, so electric vehicle owners can run errands, go to the bathroom, or grab food nearby while their vehicle is charging.
Some state we need another type of EV fast charging station, as Tesla cannot produce enough for the number of growing electric vehicle owners. Just in the first half of 2023 in America, the number of electric vehicle sales climbed over 557,000 vehicles; this number is predicted to keep increasing over the next decade.
Also GM has partnered with EVgo to install the first 2,000 high speed EV chargers at Flying J stops across the United States; click/tap here for more information on how they are also expanding and bringing electric vehicle charging stations to rural areas.
